A musician conceived this room; you'll see that immediately. It is intentionally designed to get out of your way so you can bring your art to life; so you can clearly see your fellow musicians; so you don't trip over cords; so your sound is as pure and resonant as you can make it. On the other side of the glass sits an engineer who knows voices and instruments; how they are supposed to sound and how to affect them to sit well in your mix. He also hears the string noise on bar 32, or a slight pitch variation you need to attend to, so you can quickly punch in a fix.

This was my first big studio experience with a professional engineer and it was the right choice. Getting to work with Michael was quite the productive time. an outstanding engineer, and like having an extra guy in on the creative process too. his piano backings are also really great, so make sure to request one for your song to piss him off and hear him recount his college days.

Recording engineer extraordinaire Michael Eardley made the recording process easeful for me, enabling me to hand in my best performances for recording purposes. It was such a joy working with Michael and Catherine at Tanglewood that I can't wait to record there again. There's a reason why his recording work has received a GRAMMY nod.
