View-Master is one of the easiest and most well-known ways to distribute 3D (stereoscopic) imagery. A 3D View-Master is often mistakenly called a 3D ViewFinder. Classic 3D reels feature best quality images and fastest turnaround time (as little as 3 days for small orders with modest RUSH fee). As a 3D professional, I can say that Ron Labbe and the folks at Studio 3D certainly know their stuff!
Anaglyph works by using the LEFT image in the RED channel of your RGB document, while the RIGHT uses the GREEN and BLUE (cyan). Therefore, red and cyan filters allow only the correct channels to pass. This works especially well for electronic displays, but careful attention must be used for print via CMYK conversion.
From the first crude experiments in the 1830's, stereoscopic 3D has come closer and closer to replicating our perception of the world. Modern cameras are not only capturing the colors and patterns we see, but the depth information as well. Sketchfab is the place (like YouTube for video) to experience 3D modelling on a 2D surface.
Stereo film cameras have a long history with peak popularity in the 1950's which paralled the 3D movie boom of the period. Dual camera rigs are tricky to syncronize, but offer more flexibility than fixed stereo cameras. Stereo attachments can also be used. I was initially skeptical at the small 30mm interaxial, but was surprised at how often that was the perfect lens spacing.
Movie screens were originally silver to compensate for the relatively dim projection systems of the time. A silver screen is more reflective, therefore brighter than a white screen. However, a silver screen will lose a lot of it's light as you view from the sides, but a white screen will be about the same brightness from all angles.
