In 1973, VMI, Inc.'s founder Dick Dorsa purchased an Akai reel-to-reel video camera and fell in love with the technology. He soon began selling the cameras out of his apartment under the name Videomedia. In 1975, Videomedia was officially incorporated in Northern California as Dick brought on business partners to increase Videomedia's capabilities, which meant adding manufacturing and sales staff.
Manufactured products for Videomedia included the Z-6, the Eagle, the Mickey and the V-lan series of products.

Very professional quality video equipment rental service, based on our one time rental of an HD-(DX) video camera for a weekend event, my operator partner who used to be a TV production camera crew was able to get all the capabilities that she needs, including lighting, stand, extra storage and battery, on top of the high resolution video camera itself.
The weekend rental is only charged at a one-day rate, which works fine for us. We dropped in on Friday, picked up the equipment (with a signed rental contract backed by a credit card), made good use of the camera on Sunday, and carefully making sure we have everything in tact and returned it on Monday morning. Smooth.
